Hi, during acceleration somewhere around 2500 rpms, (didn't pay exact attention as my mind was on the vibration/smoke) it feels like my turbo is trying to kick in and the whole truck seems to shudder for a few seconds i also get a heavy cloud of white smoke which clears up as soon as the vibration goes away.
Is my turbo going out, or is it shot to the point of stop driving and fix? or am I way off base with thinking its the turbo.
I haven't owned the truck very long, and unfortunately for me, i failed to research very deep into the 6.0 when i bought it. I do not have access to any tester equipment unless I take to a stealership So i'm living on the forums and trying to decide if i should spend the money on a coolant filter or a scangauge first. I really can't afford both right now so it's a 50/50 deal. Either do what i can now to try and salvage the egr as long as I can, or get the tester and find out everything wrong with it.
Guess I'll snoop thru here and read up on the egr valve and see what my options are.
IMO Scanguage, because if the oil cooler is toast then your going to have to find the money for that somewhere, but the scanguage might tell you the oil cooler is good and then you can start saving for a coolant filter. putting a coolant filter on now is not going to do much for a oil cooler that is close to failing. I would get the scanguage and start looking at some numbers, this will allow you to save yourself enough money for the coolant filter quicker than you think
Make the scanguage your first priority for purchase, and after you order it get that hood open and pull the EGR valve and clean in. Procedures are in the 'Tech Folder" at top of 1st page.
