Has anyone run across accuracy problems with their scan gauge? I have been running one on my 06 since I replaced the EGR and oil cooler and have a steady difference of 4-5 degrees running at highway speed unloaded. It reads ECT 193 and EOT 198. However when I run the AE software under the same conditions I get ECT 192 and EOT 193. I know there could be some conditions affecting the actual driving conditions, but why does Scan gauge show 5 degrees different and AE only one? Which should I consider the most reliable? Thanks
The ScanGauge and the AE report values that are on the databus, they don't really measure anything. The equation for the value from any sensor or the drive voltages to the actuators have already been resolved by the trucks ECM and the SG or AE simply reports the value. You can double check the values for your Xgauges just to make sure they were input correctly-especially the MTH. It may be possible to set the SG up where it's retrieving the value +5.
Some of the other guys here understand more about how this works but I believe the values we are using for Xgauges are correct.
