Lowering Question?
Lowering Question?
Hi all,
sorry if this has been covered but i have searched hundreds of pages of threads to try and find my answers,
so i've got a 90 F150 2wd, i was looking at a 3,5 drop but don't really want to notch the chasis out, so i have opted for the DJM 3,4 drop.
i am in australia so i will be ordering parts from the us and getting them shipped as you have very little choice in parts for these trucks in oz, and parts you can get are way overpriced, so i just want some advice before i order and pay a crap load of shipping costs.
with the rear shocks and a 4" drop should i be looking for a shock that is 19.5" extended and 12.25 collasped, or any recomendations?
and will i be able to run my 31 11.5 R15 or will i be buying new rims and tyres as well?

Greetings.
With your rear shock selection, I recommend visiting the brands' websites (Bilstein, Rancho, KYB, Monroe) to review their shock specs. Their master catalogs typically have the extended and compressed lengths with options for mounting styles. For example, Rancho RS-5203s would fit your dimensions but I am not sure of the mounting style used on your rig. Alternatively, you can just order the correct shocks from CalMax - the parent company for the DJM beams and get the correct PN from this webpage: DJM CALMAX SuperShox
As far as tires, I am also doing the DJM beams for the front but willl do a spring hanger flip in the rear. Rear tires will be 275/60-15 and fronts will be 225/70 or 215/70, all on 15x8s. 'Not sure 31s will cause interference.
I figure the spring hanger flip is reversible if it doesn't achieve the require drop. The second option is to relocate the rear axle on top of the leaf springs with a Fatman Fabrication axle flip kit. It is designed as a bolt-on kit but does will require notching the frame. I'll be welding it in if I eventually go that route.
