I have six inches of lift with ten in wide mickey Thompson classic locks with 35x12.50. It rubs on front air dam at lock. My fenders are beat in from flexing suspension. I don't know where people come up with putting 38s on six inches of lift. I have enough damage with six inches and 35s.
Running 315/75 16 on stock 7 inch alum. R C 2.5 leveling kit, only rubs at full lock on springs. Does well for me. If you never go off level pavment a lot of things will fit. my truck has room to hold 37's, but i couldn't load it or flex it.
whats the biggest tire you can put on a stock 1999 f250 XLT, no lift or anything, without them rubbing?

remember you guys are driving 10yr old trucks...those front leafs tend to sag quite a bit...especially with the 7.3 sitting ontop of it.
1 tire size might fit a V-10 guys truck, but not fit the 7.3 truck due to sag...or maybe general use over the years has had an effect.
I have the 5.4 and BDS leaves all around. No sag guaranteed the thing rides like a log wagon empty. I had ten leaves up front till I took two out and put in a no rate leaf spring.
My 04 F350 has a superlifts 6 inch kit (different front springs) and I run 37x12.5x17 with no rubbing on front airdam strip, you just have to trim the air dam the same contour and nothing rubs.
