7.3L Tuner

Hi Everyone

I havent been on the forums in awhile and i have yet another few questions for everyone! i have been looking for a tuner for my excursion and not sure what one would be the best to get as i would mainly like the tuner for fuel economy and towing as well as performance. i have been hearing good things about the Edge tuners and that they work really well for the 7.3's. i've also been hearing that the Sniper tuners are just as good and possible abit better, so if you guys could help me out it would be great!

thx alot guys!
Cameron

I love my DP Tuner and would not trade it for anything else.

I heard the Edges and such are not "on the fly" change type tuners. That is what I love about my DP....

Yeah, the edge is a programmer and every time you want to change from performance to efficient to tow or whatever you have to plug it in and wait for it to change the settings. DP is just hit the button and go... That's what drew me to it.

Here's a little info, read up... It's not a touch screen, it's more of a selector. You hit the button and choose your tune. Price will depend on a few different things. First you choose either the F5 or F6 chip. F5 is cheaper but you will need to send it back to have tunes added or anything changed. No big deal there (this is the one I have). F6 allows you to add tunes via internet, not very familiar with it but I think its just a plug. Once you have decided on which one you are going with you will then pick your tunes. If I remember correctly you can choose up to 15 different ones. Hope that helps a little.

The edge juice w/ attitude is a change on the fly tuner. The edge evolution is not. Bit the evolution controls the transmission not the engine. I have both and couldn't be happier with edge products.

I can get 20 or better if I keep the speed @ 72 (2000 rpm), but I find it hard to do so. Usually around 18 @ 78 mph.... Welcome to the forum by the way.

I just ordered a 6 position Phoenix chip from KT Performance to go on my 2002 SC 4x4...I wanted mostly better fuel mileage with some improved performance that would be safe for my engine and transmission and after a good bit of communication with Kenny, I went with: Stock, Whisper, 80 HP daily driver, 100 HP Performance, 65 HP Tow, and Anti Theft....just waiting on Fed Ex to deliver...

I had an edge evolution II. There was a couple of things I didn't like about it. Sometimes it would show a negative boost and the truck would run like crap, no power at all. I would have to reset the program and it would be fine. All I can figure is that sometimes the program would screw up and mess the fueling up. I now has a TS 6 position chip and haven't had a single problem. Also I hated the fact that to change the program you had to turn the truck off and let it reprogram the ECM. I did however like the built in gauges and DTC reading and clearing. I wish I would have kept it hooked up in the stock mode just for that.
