It's the barometric pressure sensor used on the E4OD's. Can't recall if there's a vacuum line to it or not, I'd have to take a look at one of the trucks in the daylight to see.
On diesel engines, the barometric pressure sensor (BARO sensor) (12A644)operates similar to the manifold absolute pressure sensor. It measures barometric pressure instead of intake manifold pressure. The powertrain control moduleuses the signal from the barometric pressure sensor to determine the altitude at which the vehicle is operating. The powertrain control module then adjusts the E4OD shift schedule for the altitude.
Transmission Function: Used as an input to determine shift schedule and electronic pressure control for altitude operation.
Symptoms: Firm shift feel, late shifts at altitude.
haven't gotten any of those codes but I pulled it off to look at it closer then reinstalled it and started to drive home the tranny started to act funny real late shifts and my rpms where higher than normal for the speed I was at usually I get 1800 rpms at 65 but tonight I was getting 2100 at 65
was this when the trans was still cold?
there is a TOT (trans oil temp) sensor in the trans (it's built into the solenoid pack) that keeps the converter from locking up before it reaches a certain temp.so when first starting out,don't be surprised for the converter to not lock,even while in OD for a few miles.
whenever you have E40D issues always;
make sure the tach and speedo are working flawlessly.no skipping or jumping is allowed.
check all fuses,dome light,under hood light,brake lights.
then pull all the connectors you see,such as the main pcm harness,the solenoid pack,the MLPS connector,the TPS,even the BARO if you want.clean all these and apply dielectric grease and plug back in.making sure to repair,or replace any bad connectors you may find.
next read the codes and be sure to post them.
what made you decide to pull the BARO plug in the first place? trans issues?
oh! haha.never mind.im helping you in another thread.
