New Member radiator leak!
whats good everybody.
First off i'd like to say hello.
Last week i got a 1999 f-250 XLT extended cab 5.4L 2WD w/ 254000 miles on it.
Passed smog with flying color's drives smooth most of the time. It stumbles at about 1600rpm and 50mph once in a blue moon. which i'll try and work out of it soon enough. Got it from a co-worker who fell in love and is moving to sweden, i know he took care of the truck.
I had a Silverado, I sold 2 years ago to go to school on my yamaha R6, and i have a bbc in my jet boat girlfriends suv's been pulling us to the lake, and it hurts!
Now schoolings over and im going back to work, which now is in photovoltaics. yep renewable energy. so i got my work truck/ weekend tow vehicle.
ok thats enough about me.
plans for the vehicle are to keep up on changing fluids, i'll need to be clued in on changing the rear diff fluid. i'll drop in a K&N filter, do a fuel filter, and maybe get into the spark plugs, Coils, POSSIBLY the injectors to see whats causing the stumble. not going for much more power just want to run smoothly,
few things i could use some help with.
Radiator has a leak on the passanger side, above the drain plug, where the aluminum meets the plastic.
im assuming i should just go ahead and replace the radiator.
but i cant find anywhere what radiator to replace it with. what size radiator? and im assuming its a fairly easy swap.
where can i find information on what radiator is in there, and what i should replace it with. or should i upgrade it?
also, where could i find more information about whats in the truck? what my gear ratio is, what axle, which 5.4L is in there etc etc. just trying to do my research first. thanks again

It has a 9.75 rear, all the 5.4L's are the same gear ratio will be on the tag on the diff.
Napa has a replacement radiator but it will leak in the same placer and even faster I found. There are some aftermarket companies that make solid aluminum versions, one I got required some tweaking as it was a slightly different size than my stock one. You can also go a long time with the leak if it isn't gushing, only reason I even knew mine was leaking was the smell, hardly lost any coolant from it.

about the leak, he was telling me how he was refilling it about once every 3-4 days.
i might stop by the local salvage yards and see what i can find.
