Doing a 460 conversion and stock nylon timing set is slacky they got cheap gear drive timing sets on ebay, i know you get what you pay for but does anyone know the difficulty with installation? Also anyone heard of any bad experiences with these i just want it for the fake supercharger sound but i want it bad!!!

P.S Stock Build 1983 RV 460 not really gonna be ripping on it.

 

Install is the same as a timing chain. I put one in my 429. The noise is cool at first, but kinda gets irritating after a while.

 

To me they don't sound like a blower at all, but more like a whiny/squealy power steering pump that's low on fluid, i'd go with a quality double roller timing chain instead.

Gear drives transmit bad harmonics into the valve train. Get a double roller set for a pre '72 application, and enjoy non retarded cam timing.

 

Dog bone gear drives are junk. They should always be degreed in if you are going to use one. They attract the wrong kind of attention. You will be suprised how many people will come up to you and say "man you need a new power steering pump".

 

summit has a nice set in their brand that is double roller and will let you set it the timing straight up put it on my 77 460 and love it
