cleaning the intake

so i had some problems with my truck about a month ago and just now got the time to start to work on it im going to replace the egr cooler and oil cooler but i need to clean the intake with oil and carbon in it anyone know of a good way to clean it or someplace to get it cleaned in the Seattle/Tacoma WA area

I just sprayed mine with purple power and foam carb cleaner and after it soaked for a few I would take the pressure washer to it

I ddnt get it as clean as hot tanking it but it was clean enough

Dont do it on the drivway its very messy

The purple power works the best when i used carb cleaner it just laughed at it.

Most engine rebuild shops have hot tanks and would probably charge 20 to 25 bucks to do it. Well worth it. Should be like new.

That purple power is good stuff

I would tip it up and soak 1/2 of the intake at time in a container

You could hot tank it but if yor putting the egr back on it its just going to fill backup with junk again
EGR Deleate is the way to go to keep things clean

ok so iv read that the motorcraft gold is what i should use in my truck but the coolant in the truck is green so acording to the ford parts web page i shouldnt put the gold in what do yall think flush the system and go with gold or what

or am i just going crazy and have no idea what im talking about

Id be for getting the green stuff out of there I bet its what caused your problems and junked that oil cooler

Green cant take the heatall th silicate falls out and slimes the cooling system

Go back with Ford gold or an ELC but do a thuro flush first and get that green OUT

Soak with purple power and take it to the car wash and blast it out. Worked good for me. Do the ccv bipass and that will help as well. You could also use Zerex G05.
