Soooo.....I was underneath the truck this morning checking for leaks from last weekends tranny oil change (all good), however while I was under there decided to check around a bit more. I noticed the seal on the rear differential is leaking, where it's connected to the drive shaft. There is evidence of slinging oil. How involved is the job to replace this seal? Any links on the procedure, special tools, P/N for seal, etc.
Before you do anything, make sure the vent is not plugged. It is the rubber hose coming off the top of the pumpkin and going to the frame. Take it down from the frame and try blowing air into it with your mouth (not a compressor) and see if it flows easily. When the vent is plugged, the differential heating up will cause it to burp fluid past the seal.
I didn't see a vent hose coming off the top for the rear diff. like I see on the front diff. There is a rubber vent tube coming off the axle tube between the wheel and the diff. that leads up to the frame. I tried blowing into this tube, it built pressure, and as soon as I released, it blew back at me. Is there a one way check valve on this?
EDIT:
BTW, I forgot to mention

I removed the vent tube and fitting to check for obstruction, both were clean. Could there be an obstruction inside the axle tube somehow, keeping it from venting properly?
