That's a open ended question, and people will write in with their experiences, and most will tell you it's stupid to overload the truck towing. Besides having to pull a load, you have to turn and stop the load also. Just be careful out there.

Not that I have ever overloaded any truck but I have "heard", about people that have. From what I "hear", the 'ol 300 is not the weakest link, that engine has tremendous torque. It is usually suspension that complains first. At least from what I have "heard"! Also as Franklin has said, it can be a handful trying to stop.

The type of transmission and cooling system components (engine and tranny) are important variables that effect towing capacity, not just engine size. So you should give those details when asking about towing.
