Does anyone else have bubbling paint on the tailgate? My Expedition has never been in an accident and never been repainted. It has 97k miles on it and the paint is bubbling all over the tailgate. Is this a common problem for Fords?
2001 EB, color, medium wedgewood blue, 91k miles. The front of the hood, looks like rust under the paint, the paint is still intacted. I just bought it 16 months ago and the bubbling is about twice as bad then when I bought it.
Mine has a little bit of bubbling right under the trim on the inside of the tailgate but nothing worse than that. The good news is that these things are so plentiful that there are always ones coming up in the JYs or on Copart and a tailgate is not that intensive to remove and swap with a rust free one.
It also has some rust in 2 of the channels on the roof. Ugh
Actually that isn't the same. The hood and hatch are aluminum and the bubbles are not really rust, it is oxidation happening under the paint because of poor surface prep. The roof is steel, so that probably is rust.
