Engine Bay Cleaning

I am getting my truck detailed inside and out at a professional cleaner tomorrow. They said on the phone that the price includes cleaning the engine bay. Should I have them do this or not? I've heard that doing so can/may cause issues.

Oh, truck is 05 F-250 6.0L

Shouldn't be a problem if they are pros. On the other hand if they're just going to hit it with a pressure washer and walk away I would tell them to skip it.

Thanks Rusty. I'll just make sure to tell them not to just pressure wash it.

At Cat we used a Hotsy. Super hot water with some soap, worked great, we used to blast our personal cars with it too.

Sorry, my answer sounded good in my head .
As High Binder said there is special equipment a pro shop would use, or a pressure washer would be ok if it's set up right. I was thinking of a high school kid blasting everything under the hood with the smallest tip he's got and no soap. It can easily be done right by someone who knows how.

I have heard not to use a pressure on the motor.
I just use a citrus cleaner and the spray with Adam's VRT in a 50/50 mix with water.

Thanks guys.
It is not that much work if you keep on top of it.
I clean it about 3 or 4 times a year.
Steve - I live in my own little wold, but that is OK because they know me there.

Andy, of all the pics I have seen of your engine compartment, I just noticed... does your hood not have insulation on it?
