E4OD what to look out for

Hi

I´m from Denmark where nobody drives the F-series (i have no one to compare to). I have just bought a 1990 F250HD 7.3idi e4od. My first question is how is the trans surpossed shift? does anybody have a link to video with a good e4od?
I think mine shifts too soft and then slams the lockup? It is a freshly rebuild tranny, but by a danish guy....
Is there any particular things i need to keep my eyes on (weaknesses)

Tanks in advance Kent.

Pull the codes to see if there are any trans related codes. If so fix them quickly so you don't ruin the trans. I just spent $2400 total on mine....

well incorrect tire size can play a factor in how the tranny shifts. have you pulled codes? is the speedo and odom working properly?

I will pull codes this weekend if there is any.
My tach and speedo seems fine.
The shifts seems to be the same with org wheels and 35in.
I have Tps sensor, both vss sensors( tranny and rearaxel), mlps sensor, filterkit and a shiftkit on the way from us, but i dont want to put af shiftkit in a broken trans....

You say it slams "lock up", is it lock up or shift to O/D?

Lock up would be the third shift felt, O/D would be the forth and final shift.

Lock up is momentarily released for shift to O/D.

I ask because its bit on the normal side for people to get that aspect wrong/backwards, T/C lock up and the up shift to O/D in reverse order.

One reason/cause for lock up to feel "harsh", computer locking to early and or not unlocking T/C briefly during that upshift into O/D.

How to run self test and pull codes no "reader" required to do so (just in case you're not aware it can be done or how to do so),

Fuel Injection Technical Library » How To Run a Self-Test

Edited to state what I was thinking rather then what I typed!

The link posted above, look to the right of the screen under the search function. Menu of pages there, choose 2 or 3 digit self-test codes dependent on model year. (92 and up = 3 digit)

I have it driving now with all new sensors and it shifts perfect exept when it shifts to OD the revs shoot up 2-300 then OD then lockup. Is that okay? it feels like it is when its unlocking perhaps?

So its locking then going into overdrive then unlocking and locking back again?

How much have you driven it?

No it feels like 1-2, 2-3, then lockup then just before it shifts to OD the revs shoot up then i can feel it engaging OD and then finally lockup in OD.
Does it make sense?

Kent
