Howard Stern
I just read that Howard's Empire is expanding. I didn't check the details, but he's apparently joining one or two new shows for many buckets of money.
I wondered why. I never listened to Howard over satellite I have, in the past, seen his TV show, and he was briefly on the local airwaves in the Twin Cities ( where he got his butt soundly kicked). All I ever heard/saw was juvenile sex talk ( and yes, I checked out some of the babes he had on tv). Never seemed very interesting.
That's my opinion based on a very small sample. I'd welcome comments from fans on why his shows are regarded as fabulous.
Thanks,
hj

I think our IQ's are to high to get it..

I don't really care what happen's with his career, but I would truly mis the 25 minutes I listen to him in the morning on the way home from work.
The truth is he is probably the best interviewer in all of media. He asks the questions everyone wants to hear, but nobody else would dare ask. When you go into that studio, nothing is off limits. Some of his best guests tell things they've never told anyone else. He has a way of getting people to go places they might normally not, and it makes for very revealing interviews.
It's not all bimbos strippers, it never was. That's just the stuff the naysayers focus on. If he was that bad, you would't have half of hollywood on the guest list, or big time politicians, athletes, musicians etc.
He also doesn't talk out of his hind end. He is very well read and is knowledgable on many subjects. He can debate with the best of them. He will also be the first to admit when he doesn't know something, though he will usually throw an opinion out anyway. He's also extremely humble and shy away from the mike. He's a self admitted neurotic with OCD who still sees a shrink 3 times a week.
I love the guy. There's no sugarcoating. He tells it like it is. Unfortunately a lot of people don't want to hear the facts, no matter what, or who, the subject might be. Love him or hate him, he is a living legend in the radio industry, though he will never get the recognition. Name another person dead or alive who has transformed the industry the way he has. Can't do it.
As far as these other shows for "buckets" of money, don't hold your breath. Though he would be, without a doubt, the best judge ever on a talent show, he has neither the time nor the true desire ( I don't believe) to make it work. He is too focused on the radio show. He's not exactly hurting for dough either.
For anyone who wants to find out who the real Howard Stern is, rent the movie Private Parts. You will see what he had to go through in the early days to get to where he is now. He acts as himself by the way, as do Robin, Fred and Jackie.

They say he's under contract for America's Got Talent and they will move the taping of the show to New York to accommodate him. If this is true, I will tune in to see how it goes. Heck, Steven Tyler had me watching American Idol last year, So I guess anything is possible.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Well, I listened to Howard Stern and his 'sidekicks' for a while, and here are my personal observations.
• Stern is NOT funny, nor is he entertaining. I TRIED to 'get' his humor. There isn't any.
• Robin laughs at everything he says, because she's getting paid to. (That 'laugh' cuts me to the core. It has the same effect as fingernails going down a chalkboard.)
When he was on the local FM station (DC-101), and the Air Florida 737 crashed into the 14th Street Bridge and fell into the Potomac River (January 13, 1982), that sphincter muscle called Air Florida and asked if they were now adding the 14th Street Bridge and the Potomac River as 'routine stops', from that point in time, forward.
That instance caused me to NEVER listen to Stern, again.
For all I care. . . Stern can fall off the planet. He's a waste of good oxygen.
I believe that I could use that in mixed company and get away without being fussed at by the "Old Ladies" at church.
