2001 e350 no start
2001 E350 5.4l e4od
first occurrence: problems began three weeks ago directly after last fuel up, windshield wash. was not run out of nor super low on fuel. after about 30 minutes (and even with a somewhat low battery charge) it started as if normal.
second: a couple weeks ago i decided to try it at random, no start. several tries began to take their toll on the battery charge again, so i decided to recharge the battery. after a few hours on the charger it started as if normal.
now: after repeated tries on consecutive days during different times of the day it is consistent no-start. battery is fully (slow, even) recharged between attempts.
i opened the electrical box cover and everything looks normal. i checked the big fuses and they all have voltage on both test points. starter fluid sprayed into the air filter housing produces a near start. van acts like it is out of fuel.
now if this were my '72 i'd know exactly where to look and what to do, but i'm lost on this one and could use some helpful (e-series specific) hints at isolating and curing this aggravating condition. thanks in advance!!!
never worked on this one yet, so treat me as if i know where/what nothing is because i really don't, even including removing the engine cover. no code reader nor fuel connector tools but i do have basic stuff like test light and multimeter. i need basic hints on what/where to look and test on my VAN, thanks.
This could be the pats (anti theft) as well. Try another key if you have.
You are very limited in what you can do with out a scanner/code reader fuel pressure gauge ect.
Some times if it's the fuel pump it will go if you hit the fuel tank with a rubber hammer.
Good luck
there's some other stuff over on the 'vans' forum that we've sorted through so far such as the fuse relay and inertia button. i missed the 'rubber' part of the 'hitting the gas tank' hint so i will try that with today's last ditch effort. i have asked other questions that remain as yet unanswered.
i have today to get it going or i have to take it to the squealership tomorrow, and the calendar is in play so waiting days or weeks at a stretch around here for an answer isn't going to cut it.
does this exclude everything but the fuel pump and wiring to and fro?
