Are you getting smoke when your cranking it? If not you may have air in the fuel line. Im no expert though...just a thought.

Did you recently fill up with diesel? You may have water in the fuel. How long have you had the truck?

On the bottom of you fuel filter is a valve to drain off water that has collected from the water fuel separator. Open the valve and see if any water comes out. If you have a fair amount of water that comes out you have bad diesel which I would think would cause it to rough start with a lot of white/grey smoke. The next thing to check would be your glow plugs.

Have you checked your GPs? GPs means glow plugs..lol Ok how long does the WTS light, come on? Do you hear "clicking" when you turn the key on? Don't crank more than 20 seconds. After 20 seconds, let the starter cool down for about 2 minutes before trying to crank it up again. These starters are not cheap and constantly cranking one can burn it up. Make sure you read the top stickys in this forum about GPs and GP controllers. They are AWESOME! Everything you need to know about GP systems is in those stickys. Make sure that IF you have to replace your GPs, use ONLY motorcraft/beru plugs. I believe yours will be the ZD9, 10 bux at O'reillys and there are 8 of them. Good luck and enjoy that bad boy! These are AWESOME trucks and VERY easy to keep on the road.

Air intrusion. Replace Return lines/O-Rings.

How did you decide that? Did you crack the lines at the injectors and bleed the air? Fuel at the schrader valve at the filter head?
