I've been begging my dad to get a semi (move up from our tired old chebby grain truck) for quite some time. It was a complete fluke that we ended up with a ford though
Anyways, it's a 1998 Ford Aeromax with a M11 cummins in it and a Eaton 10 speed. I'm slowly finding out this won't win any speed records, but that's not what semis are for. Sorry if the picture turns out crappy, I took it with my phone
Last of the Mohicans! Do yourself a favor now, hunt down a dealer that can get parts for you. Ford can't help you. Stering dearlers were handling the old Fords, but since Sterling as gone now too the situation can be a bit dicey. If you have a local dealer that did handle Sterling but is still in business handling other trucks, give them a call. Some Freightliner dealers may be able to help as well. Good luck, your trucklooks clean.
Funny you mention that, we had a dealer about 45 minutes away for them until about a week ago. We went in there for a part and found out it looks like a peterbuilt dealer was moving in, and they were sending all their ford parts back. Truck only has 370,000 on it, so hopefully it won't need anything major anytime soon.
i've always wanted to drive one of these while they were still made by Ford..hopefully they aren't as bad as a Sterling..the Sterlings we have where I work are rattlebox-beat-you-to-death turds..very poorly built cheap feeling trucks.. i guess they are like that because they are a Ford designed cab rigged to a Freightliner frame..the company I drive for buys the cheapest junk they can get their hands on...most of our trucks are without passenger seats, and in-dash odometers... i'm sure that also has something to do with the Sterling's being the turds that they are..
