Ranch Hand Grille Guard (Pic Request)
Ranch Hand Grille Guard (Pic Request)
Could people with RH grille guards send me pics of various angles? I want to mount lights to a grille guard but want to see if the legend can do it. I like the look of the legend over the sport.
Ask "jc8825", I think he's got a ranch hand legend grill guard on an almost identical truck to yours.
I've seen lights mounted on them before, they have the mesh over the center section so it would probably have to mount on the outside anyway. You might have to fab and weld a mounting tab though.

Here's a grill guard on mine. I love it. It attached to each frame rail with the bumper bolts then has straps that go under each frame rail and bolt onto brackets. Bought mine used for half price and just had to get a hardware kit from Ranch Hand.
Although mine is not a Ranch Hand brand, it is identical with the exception of the grill insert and my headlight surrounds are squared off as opposed to rounded on the RH. I do assume you want a photo of a guard and not a full replacement.
I have seen lights mounted in different ways. Some have drilled into the guard. Top Gun sold mounting brackets to mount lights in the grill mesh of their guards. Mr. Spooner, I know you are creative, if you wanted to mount in the grill mesh, I know you could fab something.

They would be about the same height as the factory fogs, so not really. Could also probably either get some shorter lights to go between the bars on the grille or hang a pair upside down from the bottom grille bar. Or maybe if it's like kydavison's it would fit in that space to the side of the grille before the upright for the headlight bars? Can't tell how wide that is.
My '11 Ranch Hand bumper replacement has the option of none, 2 or 4 mounts for fog or driving lights. My son's '08 6.4 is on the right with 4 lights.

This is a Go Industries Rancher Grill Guard in Hammered Powdercoat. The lights are Hella Rallye 4000. If you want real lights, these are great. They are big, but the reflector is the most important part of the light.
The Rallye 4000 can be mounted at a 90 degree angle and have a rectangular flat base. Most other lights need to be mounted in pedestal or sometimes pendant style. You can rotate the lens in a 4000 to put the mounting bolt on the bottom, top or SIDE. Mine are mounted directly to the side of the main vertical beams of the grill guard. Just drill one 10 mm hole and bolt them on. Once they are bolted on, you can aim them without tools - just loosen and tighten knurled *****. They are they easiest and quickest to aim lights on the market.
I mounted mine on the outsides of the main beams to keep clearance for the tow loops and room for my feet and legs when using the built in step. I can mount two more lights to the INSIDE of the main beams. My driving lights perform well at their mounted height. If you mount them on the inside of the main beams, you could put them at headlight level (If you put them outside at headlight level, they would block the headlights).
No BS light bars - this is the most solid light mount you can put on your truck. Real lights have depth and most built in light mounts on grill guards limit the diameter and depth of the light you can mount.

Ranch Hand has welded tabs that are used to bolt the driving lights. You order a 2 or 4 light set up. I am pretty sure the Legend is the same as the replacement bumpers.
Here is another angle:

If I had ordered fog lamps they would have gone on the roll bar below and to the inside of the driving light I did have installed.

Never figured out why anybody would put light mounting tabs in a location that severely restricts both the diameter and depth of the light.
It's a big-*** truck with a big-*** grill guard. Why go with small low performance lights?
