just picked up my truck from the shop for other problems and they said my heater control valve was begining to leak anti-freeze.....does anyone know where this is located? and is it a part I can get at the local parts house or do I have to go to ford?
It is in the heater hose going to your cabin heater. It has a vacuum line going to it. You can barely see it in my pic below, between the oil fill cap and the turbo. It should not be an expensive part, and I would go OEM.
Edit: found a better closeup pic. It is the valve that the tie wrap should be around, but isn't.
Hey Bill, is you truck (the one in the pic) a standard cab? I've read only the crew cab trucks have the valve under the hood like that.
Mine is a Supercab. But the heater valve also depends on the year. Early on, only the Crewcabs and Excursions had the valve. Somewhere along the line ('05 maybe?) they started putting the valve in all cab styles.
I replaced my heater hoses last August and the hose came with a new heater control valve. Don't know which part number it is here are the part numbers for an 06.
3C3Z-18472-BB $35.66 at Tousley and the other is 5C3Z-18472-F $40.98 at Toulsey. I bought min at a local dealership through my company for about the same price. But the hoses come with new clamps, control valve and all.
no need to buy the whole hose. the catalog only shows it as a hose for the f-body units. tell the counter guy you need a controll valve for an 05 excursion.
