The LMC kit is quite enough for me, and anyone headed down the road towards me.
I like the fact that Ryan went the extra mile with his kit.
But I don't have the money for something that I'm not going to use to its potential.

Yes but you are blinding EVERYONE in the process. The stock housing do NOT hve the correct reflector for HID bulbs

I doubt the headlight housings will handle over wattage bulbs. Besides, they are illegal for a reason.

As for the HID retrofit, that is just not a good idea. It may be brighter, but will produce excessive glare to oncoming drivers. The optics are designed for halogen not HID.

This is just my opinion. I hate driving towards any car with HID even factory equipped.

Just for some clarification, these harness kits consist of 2 relays one for each HL, that the stock harness & stock HL switch energizes to feed heavier wiring directly from the battery to bulbs.

If so, I get the gauge of wiring from above, but what are the relays rated?

There is one relay for low and one relay for high. The bulbs share each relay. The relays are 30-40 amp.

Ah yeah, thanx, didn't think of it that way. I got it in my head now. I've got plenty of wire & pieces/parts so I'll nab some relays & have a project for a rainy day.

(On edit, 3K posts today... WOHOO! )

Actually talk to a hid designer. They are capable for regular housings as well. 9 times out of 10 its people don't know how to aim they're lights right. I've had mine for years with no problems. Hid housings are just projector lens because most won't know/do the adjustments needed to correct the lens

HID's behind a faceted lens???
More than a hack job, and annoying, a danger to others on the road...

I see in that writeup he mentions two #87 terminals.
Don't make the mistake of confusing 87 & 87A (which is NC, and open when the relay is energized)
This is how a 'Bosch' relay is pinned out.

Not true. HIDs in halogen headlights cause glare no matter how they are aimed.

If you are going to run HIDs you need to do a projector retrofit.

You can get relays with a single #87 or #87,#87a or #87,#87. Just have to make sure you et the ones with the 2 #87 terminals. Not the one with the #87a

Relay online catalog
I didn't mean to argue.
The "classic" Bosch layout includes 87 & 87A terminals.
People talk of "Bosch" relays regardless of manufacturer.
Just a 'heads up' to be aware of.

But why does the 87 and 87a matter ? The relays that i installed have 85 - 86 - 87 with 85 being the ground and 87 being power from battery.
