Head Rest Woes

I just got a 2011 F250 XLT 6.7L CC SB 4x4. I love the truck but my wife hates the head rests on the front seats. I've been searching on the net to find new ones that dont lean so far forward. Anyone know of any? If not how could I bend the mounting posts without ruining them? Thanks!

The headrests on the 2012 models are four-way adjustable. You could get a pair of them and swap them in.

OMG. My wife has been complaining about my 2011 F350 headrests since her first ride in it. I've been telling her that no one else has ever mentioned it..... Until now. And she would have to be reading this thread over my shoulder. Looks like I'll have to come up with a fix for this too. Any more information on retrofitting the headrests?

Isn't that always the case when you tell them they are crazy and you are proved wrong while they are watching.

I hate that, then I have to bring out that dreaded YOU WERE RIGHT DEAR.... I hate that phrase. Welcome to marriage right.

No problem folks....glad to help.

Just for reference, here are 2011 headrests:

And here are the 2012 headrests:

Not a huge difference but enough to probably make it worth it to switch them out if they're causing problems in paradise.

Hopefully enough difference to solve the "hair style" issue. I'll probably take my "better half" down to the dealer and let her test the '12 headrest style to verify if it's sufficiently better to order new ones. Just wonder if they can even be ordered this early in the production year. Thanks for the pics PowerStroke 72. The '12 models have a few added options I wish were available earlier, such as a heated rear window and the "in bed" recessed 5th wheel for the short beds.

You bet.

I had wanted the rear defroster in mine at first but it wasn't a deal breaker and this truck had absolutely everything else I wanted on it, and then some. I had also thought about the factory fifth wheel / gooseneck prep package but again, it was far from a deal breaker for me. Eventually, I'll probably go with a B&W turnover.

I may look at the headrest swap although I really don't mind these and my wife actually likes them. I'd just like to have the adjustability of the 2012s.

Throw my wife in the "hate the headrest" club. She's sorta gotten used to them now (lean the seat back jusssst so), but still. Would they be as easy as just a simple "pull the old ones and insert the new ones"? We sat in a 2012 and did notice the adjustable. We tried the heck out of the ones in the truck we got until we realized we had a 2011, not a 2012 that we looked at. Oh well. If they are truly just "hot swappable", that would be cool.

Our 2011 Edge was the same way. Right now we just pulled them out and put them in backwards so they tilt back...

I've got the opposite issue. I swapped out my 2011 headrests with aftermarket ones with integrated video. These don't lean forward nearly as much and now my wife complains that she can't rest her head easily on them because they are too far back. You can't win!

I really like the headrests in my 2012, but then again I love everything about the truck. I never test drove a 2011 so I can't say what they're like. No one likes trouble in paradise
