Congrats on the new 5er. Great move getting rid of the junk tires that most new campers have installed at the factory. It amazes me that they make it to the dealer in one piece.

Other factors included buying local, they are storing it over the winter for free (even put the damn cover on it for me)and sell the Tiffin brand motorhome we want to buy in the future. All these factors made it much easier for me to bundle everything together at time of purchase.

Opinions are like...well ya know "We all got one"
I will always recommend doing your homework, buying the best you can get within your budget and then find a dealership you trust to take care of you when issues like warranty items come up. One rejected warranty claim can put a dent in any type of upfront savings you may have received.
Sounds to me like you focused on issues other than price, which I think is not only great, but also extremely rare. Price is certainly part of it for everyone, but in my opinion service after the sale is what really separates the winners and losers! Good job!

Well after several weeks of himming and hawing over all the last nit noid details and what I wanted (and even a trip to Indiana to Dutchmen in IN) I wrote a check tonight.

To summarize, the dealer I was working with tried several very high pressure tricks at the end and I finally walked away from them completely after it all. I went to another dealer about 80 miles away (luckily right by the soon to be wife's family) and ordered the exact trailer off the other lot. For about 2 hours of work, the new dealer not only honored the other's price; but beat it by 500, upgraded my hitch to a 20K and will have my truck in the bay for installation and picking up the unit in 4 days.

The Air Force has up moving down to TX in about 2 weeks and this is exactly what needed to happen. We are soo excited to get this rig into our drive I cannot begin to describe it! Sadly, I couldn't get the tires upgraded, but everything else on the punch card got checked off and I couldn't be much happier. Pictures soon!

You did the right thing by walking away. I think many folks would do better by focusing first on finding the right dealer and then deciding on the camper they want. I work for a number of dealers and they vary from completely dishonest to very honest. Difference between campers in the same price range, not so much!

I hope things fall into place for you now,

Steve
