I’m buying a 2004 F350 PSD,SC,SB,4X,Lariat and I am driving myself crazy trying to figure out what to pay. I’ve worked it up on every site I can find. KBB is screwy as it adds the camper pkg when you pick the receiver and the side molding is 140 and Ford has it for 60, and so on…Ford’s site is pretty much in line with the rest at 37,453.00 invoice. I get the X price and they know it. I think I can do better but I don’t wanna **** em off either…well, what do I care. I figure that if Xprice is 4% over Employee price they’re making at least that. Add their incentives and crap and they got room to move. Every vehicle I’ve bought, I always felt I could have done better…this time I’m driving off knowing I got all I could. I wana know what their cost is, bottom line, and I don’t trust them at all…any of them. I've read every thread here and checked out every site posted and here I am as cornfused as ever. Oh, how bout this smooth move.... I f%#$ed up and drove my 02 Vette in so now I’m prime for a poorking…what an idiot!
My Options:
Stabilizer Package63B, Adjustable Pedals62M, Clearance Lights592, 4X4 Electric Shift-on-the-Fly213, Manual Telescoping Mirrors with Power/Heated Glass and Integrated Lights and Turn Signals54K, Bodyside Molding965,Trailer Hitch Receiver (15K)86R, Power Rear Window435, 3.73 Limited Slip RearXD1, Electronic TorqShift™ 5-Speed Automatic Transmission44B,
kbb may have done that on certain options if you can only get some options with purchasing another package?
I know I found the same to be true on a few things while shopping for my '04 F150.
I'd smile still if I were wrong though.
Just so you know, I never mentioned x-plan to anyone. I told the dealers what I wanted to be at, and they move. I know 150s are much different than 350s, especially PSDs!!!, but I'm currently @ $480 below invoice from a dealer 3 hours away, and have another dealer at same distance which promises to beat ANY lowest deal in the US by $700 or they'll pay me $100. Not likely to get 7 of course, so after the $100, I see it as $580 below, before incentives.
And by the way? If you're a good haggler, my advice IS: drive at them hard until they DO get pissed off. They try to work your emotions to their advantage. I am in NO WAY advocating upsetting people, but that's what I've always used as an indicator that I'm no longer being washed for tons of profit for them... Contrary, it's a deal worth being solidly-happy about, and I KNOW I took it for as low as possible. On every vehicle I've every bought, I did that, and got 'em for thousands less than other dealers "demanded". [Acura does not sell for invoice~ but I bought mine at invoice+they threw in some options that were equipped on it since they felt it not worthwhile to take stuff outta the car (that's a good tip too......pick a truck that has just a little more on it that you are "willing" to pay for. Tell 'em you'll take the truck, but not with those items......you'll almost always get it free (meaning on smaller stuff......like spoilers, running boards and stuff like that). Maybe you really did want the running boards, as an example, but you don't need to tell THEM that.....see my point? :P
My S2000 was selling EVERYWHERE for $5k over MSRP (yeah, ouch!), and I paid $800 over invoice]
Hope that helps. Sorry I'm not more-familiar with 350s w/ PSDs, but I wish you the best in the 'fight'!

twoballsleft (great name, BTW!):
With the equipment you specified, I come up with a CURRENT retail price of $43005, invoice of $38019, and X-Plan price of $37845. (I actually "built" the truck through Ford's CONCEPS system, which is what Ford dealers use to order all our vehicles.) I say "current" because there was a price increase of $170 MSRP on all F250/ 350 effective 12/26/03, but it doesn't show up on most sites, INCLUDING Ford's. If you need a breakdown on the indivudual price of the options, let me know. The B/S molding is $60, and the 86R/ 15,000-lb hitch is now only available on DRW models. The only one you can get with SRW is the 86T/ 12,500-lb hitch.
If you live to spend several hours at dealerships "playing the game," then you've already received the advice you need. If that's NOT how you want to spend your time, then e-mail me with an e-mail address I can send information to. FTE is setting up a buying service for its members, but it's too early to announce it publicly. I can give you preliminary info via e-mail, but you have to provide me with your actual e-mail address; "Reply" doesn't seem to work through this site.

Ya like that name....Figures they raised the price. How come every hitch on every truck weather 250 or 350 has the same sticker on it...15000lb. I have yet to see one on any lot with 12500lb. Anyhow, I'm not shopping anymore..I like the dealership and the people/service is great....bought there before. I just wana have my ducks together so I can tweek em' good.. I can use all the info I can get...especially on the suspension pkgs. I.E. whats the differance between the snowplow(Highest front 6000lbs), Heavy Service Suspension and Stabilizer Pkg?...Spring wise are they the same? I can't get your E-Mail address as I'm two new....wont let me see it...imme? If I get this bad boy for 36k am I doing good?
I am interested in the FTE program that you are talking about, however, I have not been here long enough to Email as well. Can you send me info on it? Thanks
Ok another thing that is driving me nutz is that other than the obvious GVW ratings, what the heck is the difference between the 250 and 350? The rear springs are identical..3.86" thick, 58.1" long, 3.0" wide. The front springs are 1.18" wide, 55.63" long, 3.0" wide up to 5200lbs and are 1.25" thick for the 6000lb option which is available for both 250 and 350.
Now the diff's are different between the reg and super/crew cab(2 pinion vs 3 pinion) and I did notice the drive shaft looks different like it's flipped 180. All the specs are the same...diff, brakes, ball joints, etc. The guys at the dealer don't know either. They kept telling me this was different, that's different so I made them get under the trucks with me and showed them....now their just as cornfused as I am.
And why doesn't Ford show the idle controll as an option? KBB does...should I even get it?
Looks to me like the only real difference is the registration fee and a "badge"....and we don't need no stinking badges.
What to buy...250 or 350?.......

Two *****- I had the x-plan and went to a dealer had him set me up with a vehicle i wanted under the x-plan he handed me the price sheet and BAM I got my number to work with for haggling. LEAVE and Send e-mails to all the dealerships in your area and list the truck and options right off the order sheet with the codes right off the sheet on the e-mail and tell them a local dealer is offering you this price if they can beat it to give you a call dont mention the x-plan. If some one calls and has an offer go see them then check out the bottom line price with tax title tags included. Look for eroniuos charges like processing fees and what not. Sometimes they will beat the price of another dealership and make up the diffrence in fees.. You can negotiate all the fees I got a dealership to knock off a bunch of fees by haggling and ended up getting my F350 400.00 under the x-plan it works the key here is to be patient and take your time. If they dont want to bend on certain things leave and wait send e-mails and correspond with them tell them if they drop this or that you will come in and make the deal if not just work the other dealerships. Someone will cave in and give you a good deal just get educated on this process be patient and take your time. It will pay off. For example with mine I negotiated the price I wanted and the dealership would not drop the a processing fee of 395.00 I waited and they called me back and asked me if I could get an x-plan they would drop the fee. Well I had one allready but they did not know this. I call them back a couple hours later and tell them I got one and bam I get a truck for 400.00 below x-plan!! The key here was patience, Patience, and keep corresponding with them. Hope this helps!!! These trucks are awesome and every red blooded American male should have one good luck!!!

Hey Black....I'm pretty much doing just that...Got 3 dealerships beating each other up. 2 of them are giving me 1% over Est. invoice...NOT! The other, whom I am going to go with, gave me the same prior to me telling them about the x-plan. What I plan to do is go in there tomorrow and get their "bottom line x-plan price" and have my buddy page me in the middle of the deal so I can bolt without ordering....got an emergency guys....be right back. Then apply your logic and nail the other two boneheads with their quote..... then take their best of those two back to the other guys and beat em up...a little ammo.
I got a good feeling about this...I was there the other day and talked two customers into buying theirs while I was waiting for the manager to come back from lunch...I'm a sly ****.
I'd like to know what their factory to dealer incentive and floor plan fee is(not that that matters cause I'm ordering) so I can punch it into Jeff Ostroff's spreadsheet and really stir the pot....pull out the 'ole laptop and start punching keys right on the showroom floor.
I really hate playing these games, but your right in saying to take your time....besides I'm actually starting to have fun with this. It’s amazing how un-educated these guys are when you start asking questions that you already know the answer to.....
stupid people...there everywhere and they don't even know their stupid!
GOOD LUCK twoballs keep working them. You will know when the time is right to make the deal it feels good to gnaw them too the BONE!! Put up another post and tell me the outcome!! Get this went to close the deal yesterday and the finance guy offers me 4.2% financing from wachovia it beat what I got online by a little call my insurance company USAA and added the truck so I could drive it off the lot and the rep from USAA told me I could get better financing through USAA she connected me and BAM got 3.9% financing from them for 5/years all of this took place right at the dealership!! Man the finance people were pissed!! Hah hah Well to boot go back in today to drop off check from USAA and FORD raised the rebate from a thousand as of yesterday to 1500 today BAM Ford is sending me a 500.00 dollar check. Could not have asked for better timing!! Hope the same luck comes to you. I did a lot of research before I ordered here are some things to consider. Financing get your credit report! Know you are good on financing shop for it and get quotes from the net! It will give you another bottom line to work from with the dealers. Warranty I did alot of research here also went with warranty direct they are on line checked them out with the better bussiness burea and they are a good company got a 7/100,000 mile for 2150.00 that is the top of the line plan Ford wants almost 5000.00 for the same thing for only six years. Hope this helps shoot me any questions you may have I know the process pretty well!!!
