Look mine does the same thing when it gets cold you see a little blue smoke on start up seems to do it every winter . It does not do it when its warm maybe it is my turbo seal but only when its cold. So after a few years now i don't pay much attention to it.
i had the same problem.Turned out to be the copper crush washer for the injectors leaking.Tuned youll have more cylinder pressure and injector timing and much more noticable than untuned.
Repair was 30.00 in parts and about 5-6 hours of my time
I did not know this was a problem. My truck has been doing this for 2 year's. I actually thought this was what wet stacking is? Engine not hot enough, to burn all the fuel, and thus spitting it out the pipe. Is this wrong? (I never noticed it when I had the cat on, but whe the Kitty fell to it's death............I thought the truck was grieving)
its not going to hurt anything if you dont have a programmer to delete the egr. Leave the egr plugged in its important according to cheezit for some reason the rpm speed of the fan slows way down when the egr is not present. So you can delete the egr but your going to want to leave the egr either in the hole it was in where your new cover plate is going to be or use the cover plate and find a spot for it on the top of the engine.
Hunting last year and cruising the roads my truck would smoke blue when i stopped. Kinda like wet stacking. Its low combustion temps coupled with fuel oil burning. Thought it couldve been a turbo seal but it wasnt. Also egr valve was dry. Blue smoke doesnt always mean oil. Next time you go by a truck stop and theres trucks there idling that blue smoke you see isnt engine oil, its fuel not being burned and pushed into the exhaust where it creates blue smoke. Or, you could have an injector thats not quite right.
