i have a 78 f150 with a 74 351c 2v in it.it has a stock 2bbl on it.i have a 4bbl q-jet and an adapter will i get better performance from the q?i know with an adapter i wont get the full potential but would it be better than the stock 2bbl?thanks
Best way to tell is to get some gaskets and bolt it up; since you have all the parts. If you don't like it you can change back.
If you have a automatic the only real fitment issue would be the kickdown linkage.
You can use a rubber fuel line till you decide and the throttle linkage should be close; you might need to adapt a linkage pin onto the carb throttle arm.
i guess ill try old styles idea since no one else has used a 2bbl to a 4bbl adapter to let me know if it helped or hurt their performance thanks guys
My guess is that with the Qjet on the 2 to 4 adapter it will help your performance from stock, as the Qjet will only flow what is demanded of it... Qjets are optimized for each specific engine size, Find one was used on a similar engine size or larger and you should have a good start... I custom built one for my application, a 390... but with a 4 hole adapter to a 4 barrel manifold... Which would be the better manifold for your app.. over the 2 to 4 adapter...
I used Doug Roes book and Cliff Ruggels Book and Parts... and all I can say is WoW.....
Ended up using one of these with the correct height base plate... and with 4 inch dryer duct hose routed to the outer corners of the engine bay just over the front radiator support edges, held on with tie wraps and a slight hood pressure... lol....
thanks 7ford6 the qjet is off a 350 that had been bored 30 over.it ran good on it so i figured it would do good on my 351c.other than i cant afford an intake right now.but i have the adapter so ill give it a shot.
sorry 7ford6 i threw my back out and havent been able too install it yet ill update you as soon i can
I know that feeling... Take your time... Light swimming, floating in the water, then the jacuzzi, and then the steam room have always helped me work the kinks out, then sweet 'ol time, to let the muscles mend......
Do it when your ready...... Make's it a lot more enjoyable test when your feeling well...
