timing issues
Hey. I have a 400 in my 77 crewcab and I'm curious to know what the timing should be set at. It has the vacuum advance on the distributor and its duraspark and when I time it. Do I keep the vacuum line on or off the dis. When I time it. Thanks much for your help.

The 400s I've timed seem to like about 34° total. You unhook and plug the vacuum adv. Then put a timing light on it and rev it till it stops advancing, usually somewhere around 3000rpm. That is your total timing. Rotate the dizz until that total number is 34° and it should be good to go.
