I've used adapter universal before, but is there one to go from the big F350/ZF yoke to the much smaller early 70s F250/T18 driveshaft yoke?
I need to shorten the driveshaft about 2", would it be a better option to install a yoke to fit the larger joint?
I had one shortened a while ago, actually had a lot of them over the years but I took this one to that place out in Archer, maybe Lyman and they did a good job on it.. I think it was only 30.00 bucks or so.. I could look it up but you have the same phone book I do LOL I will if you cannot find them though.. Oh, I also found another one of those hubcaps when I moved into town here if you still need it..
Was it Mr. Driveline? I live literally just around the corner from him in Lyman/Thornton. His customer service is a bit lacking, lately. I still need to take the shaft out of the Suburban and have it redone to compensate for the lift, last time I went there he wasn't anywhere to be found.
I got the engine and trans in today, and found that the yoke is landing in the exact same place as the old one. I thought it was going to be an inch or two further back, but it's lined right up with the marks I made from the old one.
I'll have to see what it will cost to just have a new yoke put on the shaft. I hate to spend the money, though- I have access to a large lathe to cut the old weld, and just built a new plasma arc dual-drive welding lathe station for a drill pipe company that won't be shipped until early next month.
You might want to see if someone makes a combination U joint for that before cutting and welding. I know there are ones for the smaller joint sizes, could be as well for the bigger ones too.
