I am doing a 9" conversion in my 1951 F1 and currently on the 9" is a yoke that accepts a 1310 u-joint, actually the stock one for the truck. The problem is that the yoke is too short for the driveshaft to reach so instead of having the driveshaft lengthened I can get away with the longer yoke that is still the narrow long 1310 yoke. This yoke is 1" longer and that will give me what I need to make the driveshaft work.
Does anyone have a narrow, long, yoke for an 9" they would want to sell?
I ran into this too......to my knowledge, a longer yoke for the 1310 does not exist (from factory). If you have a part#, please post it. Longer yokes were made for the larger joints (1350, etc).
I think a long narrow yoke for the 1310 U Joint was made but they were very early years and in cars and rare to come by these days. I think this is a link to one from ebay. I was hoping to find one for less than $50.00 but if thats what I have to do its cheaper than getting a driveshaft made.
the other alternative is to use the 1330 long yoke that is more common and easier to find (pretty sure most newer trucks used these) and then use a 1310 to 1330 conversion u-joint. that might be easier then finding a 1310 long yoke.
Mike, that may be the way to go. I have 2 short 1310's and 2 short 1330's at home in my garage. I figured if I had to buy one I would try and find the long 1310. I guess either way I have to buy one.
I thought it may work. Now they also made a skinny and wide version of the 1310 long yoke. The skinny accepts the factory U Joint while the wide one would require an out of square u joint. This one seems to be the tall skinny one though. I will just have to measure the mounting surface of my original ujoint flange to make sure the width is right.
