I have been told that I have a Mazda trans in my 94 F150 with the 4.9L. While in gear I can take the shifter and move it side to side about two or three inches. Its not a big deal to drive but I like a firm shift, not one that I have to hunt for. Is there a bushing rebuild kit or anything that can be done to tighten this up?
Summit also carries a Hurst shifter for that trans which also has the added benefit of making it a short throw. It bypasses all of the crap that is worn out in the shifter.
The one thing to be aware of, on mine, the holes that the pins go in are wallowed out, so the pin itself doesn't stay in the hole. I had to drill and tap for a set screw to keep the pins in place.

Will this solve the problem of having difficulty shifting into the gears in the up position, ie first, third and fifth? Do you still use the stock shift LEVER with this kit? PS: not meaning to hijack this thread.
Well.....I just tried to find it online for a part number and could not find it. Hurst's website doesn't show anything for full size trucks that are specific to the 5 speed.
I will continue to look and post what I find. I KNOW I saw one. Just need to find it.
The Hurst shifter is a great upgrade for these trucks and to accompany it I would also recommend the firewall upgrade, bushing replacement for the pedal linkage and plugging of the shift cover vents.
These changes will make a drastic overall improvement.
Well I found the part on the Orielly's website and it said to call the store to find out how much....327.15!!!!!! Holy crap! I think I'll just try to find the rebuild kit on ebay that was mentioned in the other thread. But thanks for the advice.
