So i have been trying to figure out why my ebpv is not working on my 95 psd. I took the supply line off and cleaned it all out. It was clogged up bad. I also cleaned the sensor and where the tube goes into the manifold. The butterfly does move by hand so i know it is not stuck and im getting 12 volts at the plug in from the pcm. Im also showing 16 on back presure on my edge. (Saving up for scan gauge). Wat else can i try? Tomorow im gonna try 12v to the plug its self to see if it will kick in. Thanks guys
yeah, 30 below is when they kick it but they are known for staying shut, at least alot of them around Wisconsin have, Personally I would gut the EBPV unless you really need it. I get alot of 10-20 degree whether and my truck starts up just fine without the ebpv and not having it plugged in.
Ya my truck starts good and every thing. I was just wanting it to work since its on there. I want to turn it into a brake after i get it working. Has anyone heard of the actuator on these go bad.

I have read that when the actuator leaks through the hole, the seals are bad or there have been wear inside the pedestal, but I have never read if the solenoid goes bad, IDK.
I use it like an exhaust brake and works fine for me.
To determine if the valve is working correctly watch the rod when first starting the truck. Within 5-10 seconds of starting the PCM commands the EBPV to close and open so it can determine if it's working or not. PCM uses the EBP sensor and measures back pressure during this close - open cycle to verify it's functionality. This only works if EOT is below 130* or so as anything above that number the test is not performed on start up. If the PCM does not detect back pressure during this test then the EBPV function is disabled.
Ok i will try that test. Thanks guys. I got my new starter today but didnt have time to put it on yet. Once i get that on i will have some one watch to see if it cycles. When you use it as a brake can you turn it on to help warm the motor up or can you only use it at high rpm?

Yes you can use it manually to help warm the motor up.
