P0623 code

Whats this code mean? It just got it today, I had it on high idle when I started it at 6:20 and left at 6;30, It was like the exhaust pressure valve. When I'm steady driving it sounds like a jet, and I can give it some fuel and it goes away. Is it the mapp sensor? P0236 Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance. Thats what it reads. It done it all the way home like this, Even when it was warm

Have you unplugged the ebpv? Your boost gauge won't read unless you get after it a little in gear. If the ebpv is out of the equation, unplug the map and drive it, cel will come on but if it runs better the map is bad. Check out this on the map

Under the intake side of the turbo. Two wire connector.

Would it hurt anything to unplug it? And is there a way to fix it? I start my truck up at work and that morning it was 16 degrees we all walked out and it sounded like a jet was outside.

It hurts nothing to unplug it, it should disable the ebpv in the open position. Lots of guys have problems with the ebpv sticking closed and making that sound you are talking about with no power, it closes off the exhaust. Easy solution is to unplug it, all it does is help the motor warm up faster. Mines is completely removed, I don't have to worry about it sticking open, actuator leaking oil, etc.

I'd unplug the ebpv first, then try the map.

If you drove it to work with the map unplugged and it ran better your map is either bad or make sure the hose isn't plugged or cracked first before you buy one.

You need to take the exhaust side of the turbo off and remove the butterfly valve in there and plug a hole. To remove the actuator from the pedestal it needs to be cut off and a few holes welded up. You can just remove the actuator rod and put a pipe plug in the hole. If the ebpv is working properly you of course don't have to worry about it unless you want to.

Sounds to me like everything is working OK. P0236 is being reported because you have a chip and are running on "high idle", which was not an option when the PCM code was designed. When you first start up on cold mornings the PCM cycles the EBPV to determine if it is working. If it is working then it won't do anything at a normal idle until you take off .. then it will close to some degree when no throttle response is detected (power demand) such as cruising. This is not necessary a bad thing as it certainly helps the engine to warm up faster, probably between 100 - 200 degrees on back pressure.

If you can monitor EBP sensor real time you will see on a normal summer morning it's probably around 15 PSI and with a good boost maybe 19 PSI, no chip. Anything below 30* and especially 25* or below and as you drive the EBP sensor reports anywhere between 20 - 43 PSI. That is the valve closing on demand with your foot with your go peddle.

The key here is it's scarey if you don't understand what's happening or can't watch real data. I'm not sure if a chip can disable that function or not, or enhance it, I don't have one.
