Hi folks.
I would like to say that this forum has helped me tremendously in the past and would like to say thanks to all the contributors out there, and hopefully I am on the right track with my diagnosis. I am having a problem with my 03 6.0 auto, I think I have a leaking hi pressure oil system. AE show a p2290 and when taking a snap shot of the IPR % while accelerating it goes to 84.77% and my icp voltage does not increase much over 1.8 volts. At idle the IPR % is 27% and icp voltage is .8volts approx 643 psi. I have installed a mechanical fuel pressure gage and it reads 50 psi under load. Oil is 15w40 delo 400 and new ford oil filter. Base oil pressure is quick to register on start up. When the engine has warmed up the crank time is extended significantly and therefore I think that I have a leak in the HPO circuit. What do you all think? I have yet to air test the HPO system and would like to know the thread size of the ICP sensor so I can acquire an adapter. I have a full machine shop at my disposal and would like to make the adapter as opposed to ordering one.
The thread size for the ICP is the same as the fuel pressure test port. M12x1.5. You can use the fuel pressure adapter hose to air test the HPO system and save the time and $$$.
im working on one right that was doing the same thing. pressured checked everything and came up with im hoping its the pump. no air leaks but pump does have alot of end play. .035. replacing oil cooler and screen while im at it. should be able to get it back together this weekend and see what happens. truck has 227k on it and is first thing done to it besides injectors. told owner he got a good one. also it is a 03 to.
