5.4 block heater advice

okay 99 f250 sd with the 5.4. I know the element block heater is the best of all, but I cannot find an easy freeze plug to knock out so I am looking at the ones you glue to the oil pan or use a dipstick heater. Which works best between the two?

I have never used one. My 5.4L starts fine at -15. I would get a battery heater pad before a stick-on or dipstick heater.

My truck has never failed to start, but it has 178k on it and I would like to heat the oil so it does not knock around so bad. So how much. Current does the battery heater pull?
