another thing is they dint hit are fuel supply witch they dint
Not only wasn't the tank farm bombed, but neither was the Navy Yard. So all the things needed to begin reconstruction were in place.
Admiral Nagumo, who was in overall command, got cold feet, decided not to launch the 3rd (and 4th) waves as was called for in Yamamoto's plan.
Yamamoto wasn't there, he was on his flagship HIJMS Nagato in Yokohoma Bay.
Nagumo was also in overall command at Midway! His wishy-washy decisions caused the Japanese to lose four aircraft carriers. Yamamoto wasn't at Midway, either.
Later in the war, Nagumo committed seppuku on Saipan Island as US forces closed in on his position.
Aye, I remember that the fuel tanks were not hit, and were supposed to be. Nagumo decided that since he did not have the element of surprise anymore, to withdraw. Not that I wanted the Japanese to win, but it seems he single handedly made sure they didn't. No wonder he killed himself. As for the Yamamoto mission, at that time in history it was the only mission specifically designed to take out a military leader. We had luck on our side at Midway, not too mention the unheard of repairs on the Yorktown that took 48 hours instead of 6 months.
There was plenty of "provocation" prior to the attack. Keeping in mind this is Wiki, read the snippet just prior to the attack, including the embargo on Japan in July 1941. Japan was already at "war" in China and elsewhere prior to the attack:
