1979 F700 Fuse Panel problems

I tried searching for posts on this but came up blank. I am new to the site and hope someone can help.
I have a 1979 F700 and the Fuse / circuit breaker for the heater fan is a 15amp and the panel is marked for a 30 amp so the breaker keeps tripping after about 1 minute of run time as it probably should since it is not the correct size. I know the fan and wiring are good as I rigged up a temporary connector and ran the fan for quite a long time with no issues. I am trying to find this same type of circuit breaker with no luck at any of the major auto stores. There are similar types but are too long and will not fit in the panel. Anyone know where to get these circuit breakers?

Also looking for aftermarket window seals for both doors (inside and out). Tried with the online sites JC Whitney etc. but none of them seem to carry these for the larger trucks?

Any help for both problems would be appreciated!

Do you have a l700 or a f700?

F series cabs are the same from 100 for 900, so the window seals shouldn't be a problem at all.

Now the fuse problem also makes me think this is a l series truck because the f should just have the little glass tube fuses, where the l would have the block breakers which would be a little harder to find.. But a good commercial truck parts house should be able to get you going again.

Good luck!

Is this a glass fuse, blade type fuse, fusible link or an actual circuit breaker (metal box w/2 pins)?

If it's a glass fuse: No glass fuse is listed for the heater for an F600/750 after 1976, but is listed for an L (and etc) Series truck.

The following is the glass fuse:

Ford part number: C6TZ-14526-AA / Industry number: 7AG-30 or AGW-30 .. 30 amp fuse .88" long-Use for heater.

Applications: 1973/79 L/LN/LNT/LT/LTS Series trucks.

Post the VIN, when decoded, you'll know if it's an F Series, L and etc Series...or maybe even a C Series. You'll also know what year it is.

It's not uncommon for peeps to confuse one series of big truck with another. I've seen this occur here on FTE many times.

Sounds as if someone had a problem with that fuse blowing randomly and decided it was easier to put a breaker in there and if it trips, at least it automatically resets.

Would a glass fuse fit in place of the breaker? You could just throw a 30amp fuse in there, but somewhere along the line, I bet it's going to blow

1979 Fuse problem

Thanks for all the replys!

The VIN = N70AVDG9062 (DOES NOT SEEM LIKE ENOUGH NUMBERS TO BE A VIN)?
It is a circuit breaker (Metal box with 2 pins). All the other slots on the panel are the glass tube type fuses. Some very short in length and others a little longer.

The heater slot could accept a glass tube but the issuer is the length. It is in between your standard length fuse and the stubbies in some of the slots. So far I have brought this to 2 different auto parts stores with very knowledgeable people but they all come up blank??

I will look into the glass fuse P/N provided earlier in this thread.
Any info on the VIN would be appreciated!

Thanks again!

11 digit VIN: 1957/80 / 17 digit VIN: 1980 thru today Passenger Cars & 1981 thru today Trucks, Bronco's, Econolines and etc.

N70 = LN700 (gas). EDIT: LN Series truck, not an F Series truck!

A = 370 2V

V = Kentucky Truck Assembly Plant.

DG9062 = 1979.

Post #3: The 30 amp glass fuse I listed is correct for this application.

Does the truck have air conditioning? If so...look at the 30 amp circuit breaker for an ID number similar (or the same) as this: E5HB-14526-HA / Does it have a colored dot on it?

If you have the owners manual, there is a section that lists all the glass fuses and their applications.

Bill,

Thanks for all the info!!

No it does not have AC and I think someone did put a breaker in the slot instead of a glass fuse.

I will try to get the glass fuse you mentioned.

I do not have a manual but will try a search for one.

Best regards and Happy Holidays to you!

C6TZ-14526-AA .. 30 Amp Glass Fuse .88" long-Use with Heater / Marked with Industry Numbers: 7AG-30 or AGW-30 / Obsolete

No FoMoCo Dealer in New England has any, dunno about autoparts stores.

FRED RAYNOR FORD in Fulton NY has 4 = 315-592-2222.

SOLOMON FORD in Brownsville PA has 13 = 724-785-5500.

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 282 = 800-543-4959.

The 1973/79 Ford Heavy Truck Parts Catalog is available on a CD from hipoparts.com

faxonautolit.com has owners/shop manuals, sales/accessory brochures, wiring diagrams and etc.

Helm (helminc.com) has the 1979 Ford Medium/Heavy Truck Specifications Book. Item # 36532979 @ $16.00 / Click on the title to see the extensive coverage this book offers.

Helm has printed all of FoMoCo's literature since the 1940's.

Bill,

Thank you for all the info.! I contacted my local parts store with the industry number for the fuse and I will have them tomorrow.

As far as the Vin info what does the LN mean? It is a F series truck correct? As mentioned before I want to get the window wipes/seals and someone mentioned in this thread that all F series cabs are the same 100 - 900.

This site is the best!!

No, it is not.

The F100/900 Series Cabs are the same, but you do not have an F Series Cab, because you do not have an F Series truck!
N70 = LN700 Series truck, it is not an F Series.

If it was an F700, the VIN would begin with F70.

F600/750's after 1976 do not have a heater fuse, but all 1973/79 L/LN/LNT/LT/LTS Series trucks do.

No one is reproducing weatherstripes for these trucks. Your only choice is NOS (New Old Stock) originals..if they can be found.

I'll look 'em up later today (Tuesday), edit the info into this post.

Hello Bill, It looks like you are a great resourse on the older Ford Trucks. Would you be able to give me some help on a 95 F700 429 truck? Can't get it started all of the sudden.
Have tried to find fuel relays and fuses but i searched high and low with not much luck. Is there a standard fuse diagram?

Welcome to FTE

This is a little new for me...mechanically, but it could be the DuraSpark ignition module, especially if it's the TFI module mounted on the dizzy...was a POS from day one!

The FTE member to ask is subford .. posts in the 1980/86, 1987/96 truck forums.
