Alright, I am done searching and Imma just ask the experts. I can't seem to get a definitive answer on this in my searching so here goes.
I'm parting out a '95 F250 4x2 with a ZF5 and a PSD, and a guy has approached me about whether the ZF5 from the PSD will bolt up to a 6.9 IDI. I think this is doable, but I don't want to steer him wrong just so I can sell my transmission. So clear me up on this. Can it be done? Any complications to doing this?
well iv'e taken a trans from a 93 IDI and bolted it to a 95 Powerstroke and the bolt pattern for the 7.3 IDI is the same as the pattern for the 6.9 so i would say yes its doable
Yeah this one is just the OBS 5 speed ZF5, I just wasn't absolutely positive that the bolt pattern of the 6.9 was the same as the 7.3 IDI and the 7.3 PSD.
Yup, 6.9/7.3 IDI and 7.3 PSD in obs apps are all the same pattern, my 96 F250 has a 94 IDIT trans behind it, and my F350 has a Hybrid, 96 guts and rear half and a 90 case.
If his truck is a 91 or older, there really isn't a good way to get the speedo hooked up. The hole is cast in, but not machined out. I don't know if the shaft has the provisions to put a gear on it.
Actually they have odometers in them as well, as long as they are on when the vehicle is being moved. Also if you are using them for maintenance intervals, they have to remain specific to the vehicle, and not moved around.
I noticed last week that my car gps rolled over 50,000 km's, (30,000 miles) and it's about a year and a half old. It doesn't always get turned on either, but it has been bounced back and forth between a couple of the trucks.
