I see a lot of sellers doing that now. Yeah, historically that's what they'll bring at an online auction, but when the seller starts that high, they rarely seem to get any bids unless someone is desperate for the item. Personally, I'd never buy an item a seller has priced like that no matter how bad I needed it. Greed is ugly. Let the buyers set the price like they're supposed to!
eBay has changed the rules for sellers and it encourages that kind of behavior. I have several auctions going and I just know I'm going to get downgraded by eBay (i.e., they increase my selling fees) because they are cheap items that weigh a fair amount, so shipping is high relative to total price. It sucks but right now they're the only real game in town...
Wow,
They are worth that much? Dang! sure makes me contemplate selling the one out of my truck.
I guess, I got danged lucky, I bought mine at the local pull-a-part yard for about $5 a few years ago.
I was just shocked at the price. I don't need one, as my future project has it. I could understand the price if the metal was replated, new wires, etc.
Now for the insanity that can be found on eBay. That $110 dome light just went unsold, no bidders. But this one, exactly like the other, has five days remaining and now sits with 10 bids at $126. Go figure. Stu

Ya, I was looking at that one last night too, crazy. (maybe a friend is jacking up the bids)
But It seems like only a few years ago you could watch Ebay for 6 months and you might only see one of those dome lights, maybe one Stainless windshield Trim piece and some other misc somewhat hard to find parts and they were all selling for fairly big bucks, Over the last 2 years it seems there have been tons of those items and only a few bring in the $$ like in the past. (buyers market, just not those posted above )
Speaking of Ebay I have sold a few things on and off there over the last 5 years or so and it has become almost too expensive to even use anymore.
Another interesting thing is I got a check in the mail about 2 weeks ago for $9.06 from the yingling V Ebay settlement fund, my payment was part of a settlement based on final value fees charged April 2005 to August 2009 I had no idea, the check just showed up,
Usually you have to opt in on those class actions?? Oh well, I'll take $9, it means I can afford to list 1 more item now
I got a check too, but it was for $34. If you read the settlement letter, you'll see how much your actual settlement portion was and compare it to how much "net" payment you received. My settlement amount was over $500, but I only got a $34 check. Guess where the difference went... Yup, to the lawyers. They're the only winners in a class action suit.
well to the people who want a dome light and dont want to pay too much but are not purist,,,,you could look into the mail jeep dome lights,it looks similar, its glass and it looks pretty cool.
I dont know if all the years had them but 1979s did.
I might have promised mine to my dad. He has a 52 and is looking for a dome light. Since he's staying closer to stock than I am I told him I'd swap hime my light if he found me somethig that looked cool.
He was thinking he had some dome lights from a 56 Olds stuffed in the shed somewhere that might be the ticket.
