I have a 05 F350 6.0L with 105k mi on it. This morning I start it up to warm up about 15 min then drove off a mile later it lost all power with a lot of white smoke from the tail pipe. I have'nt notice any antifreeze loss, but it smells lbad like fuel in the exhaust. It will only idle if you touch the throttle it loads up and dies. After it cooled off it did'nt do again till it warmed up. I had a terminal problem with the fuel filter cap last week! The O ring must have been pinched from the last service at shop then started pumping diesel out while driving the only thing I found burnt was the oil filter cap everythingelse look fine. The fire wasnt big enough to scorch the paint on the hood. The only performance mods are a 4in exhaust no programmer or intake. In the last 12 mos its had a new FICM, high pressure oil pump, pressure regulator, EGR, Y pipe, turbo, 8 injectors, and various other sensors and wire harness pieces and a few things I can't think of right now replaced. All of it was installed by Ford. Any ideas would be a big help
I think its time to put a scanguage II on it. Do you or someone you know have one? They are about $160 from autozone. I could not have fixed my last go around with my truck without one. If you get the scanguage hooked up you can monitor the ICP,ICV,IPR,FICM, among other things. I would wright down your readings while its Running good and compare them to the readings you get when it loads up and dies.
Thanks a lot! Its amazing what happens when you ask. Just so happens my Dad can plug into it and EGR took another dump time for a cooler also just as a precaution.
