I added this to our Sticky; even though your write-up says for 87-96 I believe the steering boxes have been unchanged for decades and it should apply to 80-86, too.
As a matter of fact, the kit said it would fit any Ford steering boxes in big cars and light trucks made from 1964 on (i guess up to 1997). Yet i didn't want to exagerate so i only stated it up for the period-time i was sure about.

Yup. If you ask the guy at the 'yard to let you look at his Hollander, you'll see that all from 80-96 fit, as do many Explorers and other vehicles. If they're not the same internally, they are on the outside.
Chris, my 77 F150 had a real long pitman shaft and was a rear steer rather than a front steer. The 4wd trucks were front steer and may have had Saginaw boxes in those days. I was going to try to fit one of the older 4wd setups on my 58 and install a 390 in it.
