Door ajar?!?!??
Hey,
Just have a quick question. I have a 98 f150 stx. 4.6, 5 speed, long bed, etc... Sometimes when I close the door, The door ajar light stays on, which in turn leaves the dome and cargo lights on. Not really a big deal, but when I set the anti theft, the alarm will go off in the middle of the night, or it will be going off when I come out of the home depot, or something along those lines. I was just wondering if anybody else has had this problem?
and if so, how was it fixed????

If you do a search here you'll probably find lots of posts about this problem. Basically the switches in the door lateches stick and you have clean them out with WD40 by spraying a whole bunch into the latch. Just open the door and aim the WD40 into the latch and start spraying. After you've sprayed lots in there open and close the door a few times and then spray some more. After a couple times your lights will work ok again.
Use WD40 as it cleans the junk out of the latch and switch and doesnt attract dirt like grease would.

Yeah...that will work great for a while. It'll come back though. I finally just took my door panels off and cut the wires to the switches. NO more door ajar....ever. (I don't have an alarm system on my truck however).

i have the same problem on my 97 f-150 longbed, when it is cold then the door ajar turns off and then when it is warm it will turn off after 2 min. when it is hot out then it won't shut off at all. it is really annoying, and I don't know how to fix it. can you help???
