Is it time for injectors?

about 198k on this great truck. am getting ready to change out the oil cooler and going with a EGR delete from bullet proof diesel. since it is going to be torn down would this be a good time to jsut replace "all of the injectors"? i put 85k on her last year hauling fifth wheels and trailers across america and canada with much success, EGR valve only replacement.

i am not up on the injectors, any really better than others? what can i expect to pay for them and where do you guys suggest i purchase them?

Several people more qualified than myself recommend you purchase them from ford, as all of them are remans, (they do not make them " new" anymore.)yet ford makes them pass certain criteria.

Yeah, you could go ahead & replace 'em while your in there. Ford/Navistar is about the best your going to find at OEM spec and your looking at $1800 to $2500 just for injectors, doing your own labor. I think Strickly/Sinster diesel offers some good injectors if you want more power. But then it's how much power and $$$ do you want to invest in the truck?

Another option might be to have them tested. Ran across this in another thread:
We Can Test Your Diesel Injectors
Don't know anyone who has used them so can't recommend, but somebody's gotta go first .

Edit: after thinking a little more I gotta agree with the other guys, given the high mileage and the way you use the truck, fresh injectors would be the wise choice. The expense of testing would likely be a waste of $$.
