Change ALL of them. I did mine, just changed the ones that were out. 2 weeks later, 2 of the others went out. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Now I just pretend I know how fast I'm going at night.
got it all apart...now how do you get it out. ya got one black wirecoming from underneath, and like 3 sets in the back. do i have to remove those wires to take it out?
Those are the wires that attach to the back of the gauge cluster and run all the gauges. If you look at the picture in post #16 you will see what I mean. Yes they have to come off to remove the cluster, but I think you should be able to pull the cluster out far enough to unplug them without too much trouble.
IIRC its for the automatic position : P,R,N,D,1,2 And I didnt pull it.
I found this in my PC
-This for auto trans. Look down the steering column by the ignition switch. You will see a thin colored piece of wire hooked/looped to a ball. This is the linkage to tell what gear you are in. Right below the ball there will be a thumbwheel to adjust the dash selector. DO NOT TOUCH THE THUMBWHEEL Reach in there gently with a needle nose plier and unhook. Using a 5.5mm socket, unscrew the bracket holding the thumbwheel.
Be very careful with the fuel selector switch, they have a bad tendency to break the mounting tabs on the panel. The best way to remove it is to take out the 2 screws holding the switch in and after it's off disconnect the wires.
IMO, use the regular type bulbs, not LED. I had a few that burnt out (regular bulbs), and replaced all with "high output" LED's...well, the areas directly where the LED's are illuminate great, but they do not diffuse too much, so it is "splotchy" at night. Whenever I have to remove the bezel again, I will go back and replace all bulbs with the old standard ones. It was a mistake IMO to swap them, but, live and learn.
