ttb diff swap
2nd question will 4:10 's out of a ford 9" fit in a ford 8.8
have 3:55's and 4:10's will do the trick
basicly i need lower gearing due to larger tires and want to know if there is a cheaper way with alkittle more work then just buying the gears new

Simply swapping in a different set of gears is not that easy anyway. You have to set pinion depth using shims (front to back in the housing) just right and shim the differential just right (left to right) for the correct pattern. Then set the pinion bearing preload correctly. If you have the time to learn and trust your capabilities, I encourage you to do it. You could replace all your seals and bearings so you'd have a very dependable axle set, that you know should last a good while. Not that many people are meticulous enough, this is not a job where "ah f-it, its good enough" will cut it.
I'm not sure on the Dana 44 HD gears working with the Dana 44, though I suspect they'd work.
Alot of guys on here just swap whole rear axles to change ratios as they would prefer to just cut some U-bolts, unbolt the shocks, and disconnect the brake lines then use a JY axle with 4.10's in it already.
As for the front, you could pick up a 3rd member thats already equipped with 4.10's (probably also from a JY) and put it in. That would require pulling the front axle shafts, removing the front driveshaft, and unbolting your current 3rd member.
going to run 37-38 inch tires so 488-513 gears
i am confident as a mechanic have turned wreches for years so shiming and chacking lash is no problem and i never use the it will be fine mentality ,since i started cleaning and prepping the frame for paint i have discovered i have OCD hahaha cant settle for good enough
