NEED HELP! 1990 stuck in 4WD
Bought a 1990 BII with elec 4wd and auto hubs. Knew there was a problem with the 4wd (would sometimes go into 4wd, sometimes wouldn't). Truck drives ok in 2wd.
A 'friend' decided to push the 4wd button. Truck is now in 4WD and I can't get it back into 2WD.
When the buttons are pushed now, the indicator lights don't light and there is no response from the motor on the transfer case. The 40A fuse at the distribution block is good. I think the electric motor on the transfer case is probably bad, I don't know.
Is there some unconventional way for me to get it back into 2WD. Nobody can look at it until next week, and it is my daily driver. I NEED IT! I don't need for it to be able to go from 2WD to 4WD, I just need it in 2WD NOW!
Please help!!!

OK, so I got under there and pulled the motor off the transfer case. I manually turned the indicator from 4H to 2H. Truck drives fine now.
However, I still get no response from the elec motor when the button is pushed. I can't turn the gear to line it up with then indicator, so right now, the electric motor is tied up to the bottom of the truck with cable ties.
The 40A fuse under the hood is OK. Is there something else I can check before I blame everything on the elec motor? I'd rather fix something cheap instead of replacing the motor.

Nope. If it was intermittant before and it is now not working at all, you can rightly count it out. Check the tech section either here or on TheRangerStation.com and you'll see how to break one down and maybe get it working again. From what you've told us, it's the motor that is the culprit.
