Once again, sorry I haven't been around for a long time. As I said in my first post several years ago, I have dreamed of owning a '69 Ranger ever since I first saw my uncle's about 32 years ago. I have been most active here when I had a '95 Powerstroke, which I have since sold. Now I have some money saved up and have found something I may be able to afford. It's advertised as a '68 F250 with a "stock lift kit." What it actually is, is a '68 F250 on a '69 Highboy chassis. I'm not sure what the seller's reserve price is (Ebay) but I'm pretty sure it's higher than any of the current bidders are willing to pay. Right now the bid stands at $1575 with about three hours left on the auction. I've talked to the seller on the phone and he seems like a nice kid who was willing to answer my questions honestly. He's 20 years old and has had the truck since he was 16. He holds the title for the truck -- titled as a '68, and he also has the title for the '69 that the chassis came from. I want to be fair to him, but I only have about $1900 to spend. My question then is what is actually a fair price for this truck? I know that the value would be much more for an original truck, but what about one such as this that has been cobbled together from two trucks?
I appreciate your answers.

Nice looking truck. Did you ask him what the reserve is? If it doesn't sell, give him a call and make an offer. Did you notice what the other 67-72 trucks are selling for? $622-$12,000. Ford : F-250 Ford : F-250 | eBay

Thanks, that was my plan, to get him to give me a Second Chance Offer if i am the high bidder. I may not be though, it's up to over $1600 now.
Yeah, it's a nice truck, but those wheels are gonna have to go!
Well, I didn't win it or even get the high bid. I called the seller and he said his reserve was over $3000. I told him I was ready to fly up there Saturday morning and give him cash for it, but it was a lot less than he wants. He has a guy coming tonight to look at it, but if they can't work anything out he may give me a call. I probably will not end up getting the truck but that's OK. I wasn't really planning to buy anything until about January or February, at which time I'll have a lot more money to spend.
edited: I guess I should have mentioned that the high bidder on the auction did not hit the reserve. That should make the rest of the post make sense now.
