Shouldn't need anything in a motor that has 38k miles.
How do you figure the knock is a result of a particular type of oil filter?
The anti drain back in the fram filter is a pos cardboard. So it leaks and the system looses pressure that has to be regained on start up of the motor.
Kinda of like if you have a hose with a sprayer on the end. You turn on the hose and instant pressure. Versus the sprayer leaking and when you start it has to rebuild the loss pressure in the system.
That is the reason for the motor leaking when you change the oil and the filter, when you remove the filter you remove the filter was "holding in" and it knocks until it builds up the pressure (Only second or two but, thats to much for me)
Gotcha. I guess with the filter being mounted at an angle rather than straight up/down (460, right?) that could happen.
Mines actually mounted at a funny angle since I have a huge oil cooler kit on the truck. So the filter really matters for me. I tried to go cheap with fram and I got what I paid for.
