What else should I do while installing head studs?
okay looks like i have a leaking head gasket so it's head stud time. i've been doing some searching but i want to cover all my bases and get everything done at one time and i don't want to forget anything. so my question is what should i be replacing while the engine is out of the truck? it's an 05' with 90,000 miles on it, already has the egr delete. here's what i have in mind but if there are other things i should do please let me know.
arp head studs
new oil cooler kit
possibly new injectors
clean the turbo?
Do a thorough coolant flush with Restore and Restore Plus before tearing it down. That'll clean and prep the system for the new oil cooler. I would also switch to an ELC coolant afterwards. Don't worry about new injectors if you don't have any cold start or other issues, but you will need new o-rings for them. Cleaning the turbo won't hurt while it's apart. I would also update the STC fitting on your HPOP if it hasn't been done yet, and also do the stand pipes and dummy plugs on the oil rails.
new oil cooler? egr cooler? don't know if you have a coolant issue
If you read his original post... He is already doing an oil cooler and has an EGR delete. From follow up posts, sounds like his coolant system is in order.
