When ever I put my truck into reverse it clunks into reverse hard and jerks the truck. My idle is set to like 650-750 and I dont know what would cause that.. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas let me know, And the trans fluid is at the right level.

 

Mine will clunk sometimes, but I think mine is due to a little bit of end-play in the transfer case output shaft, cause mine will clunk if you let just drop your foot off the gas instead of easing off of the pedal too...

 

Like it will only do it in reverse.. Drive and everything else is fine

 

I'm going to pull up this old thread, did you every find a solution for this?

I have this same problem and will start instigating soon. Any places to start looking?

 

something loose in the drive line U joint pinion flange trans mount slip yoke in driveshaft
