I have a 99 Ford Ranger with 51k on it. Runs great but I haven't done a tune up on it yet. I know lazy. Besides the plus which I think are 100k plugs what else do I need to replace. Including fluids. Also if the plugs are 100k but need to be cleaned only how do I clean them. Is a little sand paper still good or do I use some sort of fluid cleaner.
Thanks in advance
When I did mine a little while ago, I did the plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, and air filter. I also had the transmission serviced a couple of weeks before the tune-up.
I have noticed a significant increase in fuel mileage and efficiency.
If your gonna pull the plugs replace em its pretty cheap compared to gas/oil and stuff.
I recommend autolite dbl plats. but if you dont mind changing them every 24000 miles or so. the autolite coppers at $.89 are good.
My normal tuneup is WIRES (avoid cheapo's like the plague)
plugs, pcv valve, air filter, fuel filter, oil change, tire rotation. Grease fittings(if possible some are "greased for life").
Oh and i normally wash it real nice too.
ON EDIT.
Tranny fluid change every 20-30k miles
diff fluid change every 30k or so. etc.
I plan on having my truck a long time hopefully, if i can avoid all the young girls talking on their cell phones smoking cigarettes and styling their hair while driving.(at same time)

And don't forget the part about them weaving in an out of traffic and passing in the wrong lane while they got all that stuff going on. Drives me crazy, too!
I suppose I don't mind it as much, though, when the girls are REALLY REALLY pretty.
Wow, better tell that to anyone running a supercharger or nitrous. They RECOMMEND Double plat, its not required.
Also if you use regular plat, the side of the engine that gets the reverse spark wont wear correctly.
